NCAR's Advanced Study Program

The ASP mission is to help NCAR and the scientific communities it serves prepare for the future, and encourage the development of early career scientists.

Computational and Information Systems Lab

Teaching, inspiring, and helping future generations of scientists, CISL is active in several outreach, mentoring, and professional development programs in addition to managing the NCAR Wyoming Supercomputing Center.

The COMET® Program is a world-wide leader in support of education and training for the environmental sciences, delivering scientifically relevant and instructionally progressive products and services.

The Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS) is a newly reconfigured program that manages and delivers services for Earth science programs such as logistics and travel expertise for multiple events, conferences, and meetings; and professional development via postdoctoral fellowships and visiting scientist appointments.

NCAR Diversity, Education and Outreach

The Office of Diversity, Education and Outreach is responsible for the coordination of valuable, but disparate, education and diversity efforts currently distributed across NCAR, elevating both NCAR’s commitment to Education and Outreach and our institutional values centered on inclusiveness and diversity.

NCAR's Earth Observing Laboratory develops and deploys NSF Lower Atmospheric Observing Facilities (LAOF) and provides field project support and data services. Its educational programs primarily serve the higher education community.

SOARS Program

Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS) is an undergraduate to graduate program built around a summer research internship, mentoring by top scientists, and a supportive learning community. It is dedicated to broadening participation in the atmospheric and related sciences. 

The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) program is a worldwide hands-on, primary and secondary school-based science and education program designed to engage students in the process of science.

UCAR Center for Science Education

The UCAR Center for Science Education helps to connect NCAR and UCAR science advances and innovations to the needs and priorities of diverse people by helping them to learn, understand, value, and apply science in their daily lives.


UCARConnect offers topical and timely science features from NCAR and UCAR, a portal to education and training resources, real-time access to presentations and colloquia, and webinars that foster dialogue and connection across the atmospheric science community.

Unidata Program

Unidata's mission is to transform the geosciences community, research, and education by providing innovative data services and tools to enhance Earth-system education and research in an era of increasing data complexity and multidisciplinary integration.
