Developing a Seamless Modelling System

Presenter: Jon Petch, UK Met Office
Date: Sunday, July 13, 2014

The UK Met Office uses the same model for operational forecasting from the short range (hours) through seasonal timescales to centennial prediction.  This poses many challenges for the UK's science and model development. In this talk Dr. Jon Petch, head of the UK Met Office's Science Partnerships, touches on what he means by a seamless model, how it is used, the challenges for development and how the MET Office can work together with others to improve this system.

Topics:Earth System, Research Tools, Computer Modeling
Audience:Graduate/professional

This presentation took place at NCAR's Foothill Lab Auditorium on Friday, July 12, 2014.
